The state's direction towards regulating the meat market (supporting imports as a solution to address the sector's problems)
Keywords:
White meat;, red meat;, meat imports, value-added tax, customs dutiesAbstract
Due to the increase in demand for meat and the insufficient production of it, and consequently the rise in its prices, especially on certain occasions, the state has tended in recent years to take a temporary solution with the aim of controlling the market in the field of meat, as it granted tax concessions to importers of these materials, namely the cancellation of the value-added tax and the reduction of customs rights regarding types of red and white meat. However, despite the concerned authorities achieving their goal through this measure and thus providing meat in the national market at capped prices, this solution is considered temporary, so the state must take adequate solutions to support and develop the national product and thus provide it at reasonable prices permanently.
