The impact of border disputes on international trade exchanges Case study
The border dispute between Algeria and Morocco
Keywords:
Borders inherited from colonialism, International Trade Exchange.Abstract
Although most international border disputes are settled by peaceful and legal means, they have become the primary reason behind current international disputes. The latter contributes to the tension of economic relations between the opposing or neighboring countries. Moreover, these disputes are related to the state's sovereignty over its land, sea, and air territory, along with its prestige at the international level. Consequently, The resulting tension has several repercussions, which negatively affect international trade exchanges. One current case is the border dispute between Algeria and Morocco which, despite being settled, is considered the main reason for the tense economic relations between the two countries and the decline in the volume of trade exchanges between them in recent years.
